What Type of Lawyer（律师） Will YouNeed?
Barristers（出庭律师）and Solicitors（初级律师）: In some foreigncountries you may need the services of specialized attorneys referred to assolicitors and barristers. Barristers are generally allowed to appear in anycourt. Solicitors advise clients and may prepare cases for barristers to try incourt but do not frequently represent them in court themselves.
Notaries（公证员，某些国家处理遗嘱、财产转移、房产管理法律文件-新新源移民）: In some countries,notaries public, "notaires" or “notars” can perform many of thefunctions performed by attorneys in the United States. A notary in a civil lawcountry is not comparable to a notary public in the United States. Theyfrequently draft instruments such as wills and transfers of property. Insome countries a notary is a public official appointed by the Ministry ofJustice, whose functions include not only preparing documents, but theadministration and settlement of estates. Such notaries serve as repositoriesfor wills and are empowered to serve legal documents.
Huissiers（法警或法院执行的比如送传票等的行政人员）: In some countries "huissiers" serve documents. Yourforeign attorney may delegate certain functions to a notary,"notaire", "notar" or "huissier" and isresponsible for informing you about any other legal professionals that he orshe engages on your behalf.
Foreign Legal Consultants（法律顾问）: These are attorneys, frequently working for U.S. law firmswith offices in foreign countries, that may advise clients about therequirements of foreign law but who may or may not be licensed to practice lawin the country where they work.
Selecting an Attorney（辩护律师）: When you receive a list of attorneys, you may wish toconsider contacting several attorneys, and briefly describe the services youneed.
