If you live outside Costa Rica:
You must write a letter to your nearest Consulate of Costa Rica and request a Certificación de Antecedentes Penales de usos varios a nivel internacional. You must include the following information in your letter:
The Consulate of Costa Rica will send your letter to the Judicial Register of the Supreme Court in San Jose, where your request will be processed and where the person you authorized will pick up your certificate (see Information and documents you need for complete address).
If you don’t have someone in Costa Rica who can pick up your document, you may contact your Embassy or your Consulate for help. You may also contact a legal firm to follow-up with the process.

There are no established standard procedures to obtain certification or copies; it is subject to the Ministerial Authority placed by the current government. The “Certificacion de Antecedentes” is generally issued the same day it is requested and has a validity of three months. Applicants residing abroad should contact the nearest Costa Rican Consulate to request a police certificate.

6- How to request the crime sheet?
To request the criminal record sheet you can do it in the following way:
Personally.
Electronically, here using the Official Website of the Judiciary.
Through the mobile application "Judicial Power Costa Rica" available in the App Store or Play Store . To do this, you must have a username and password that is delivered to the nearest courts or Office of the Comptroller of Services.

6. Request for Certificate of Delinquency
If you reside outside of Costa Rica and need to obtain your Certificate of Delinquency, you must make an express request to the Consulate of your jurisdiction .
The request letter must be sent to the Consulate of your jurisdiction to be processed and must indicate:
Full name of the interested party.
Identity card or passport number.
Date of birth.
Full name of both parents.
Full name, identity card number and telephone number of the person in Costa Rica who is expressly being authorized to collect the crime certificate.
Copy of the identity card on both sides or copy of the passport where the photo with the personal data is
If it is difficult for you to appear at the Consulate of your jurisdiction to make the request, you can send the letter by mail duly signed and notarized by a Notary Public of the United States of America and by the corresponding Secretary of State . The procedure carried out by the Consulate has no cost.
